What are Dowel Bar?

Extended steel reinforcement bars for future extension in the building structure.

➢Why:

Such that these bars can be used any reinforcement section so that in future if there will be any extension to the structure will occurs then we can tie the extended section of reinforcement to the old one for increase the bond between old and new structure.  

 ➣Advantages:

 1.It will be easy if we provided the dowel bars so that the structure can extend in future without any worries , but if there were no dowel provided then we need to drill that slab or column to insert the extra extended bars to make a bond between old and new structure.

2.It will reduce the Cost

3.We can construct pillars pad like small structure in place of that extended dowel if there will no extension in the building at that time or nearby so that it will look bad so as a aesthetic point of view we can construct small piers build by brickwork or you can say that extended column to a small height i.e 45D-50D  where D=Diameter of bar, and in future if you need to extend the building then you can demolish that piers  easily and can extend the reinforcement for further development of structure.

and also it will resist the steel bars from corrosion and will protect it from environment.
